Along with being a licensed securities representative, Dr. Ackerman is a licensed real estate agent in the states of Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland.

Through CapWest Securities, Inc., Dr. Ackerman specializes in offering investors Tenant-in-Common (TIC) fractional ownership interests in institutional properties, LLC interests in commercial real estate and development projects, as well as various note programs. Many of Dr. Ackerman's clients are conducting 1031 exchanges and are looking for alternative properties to local markets. He also assists investors in acquiring commercial properties, accessing larger properties, and building or developing commercial properties. Since 2004, Dr. Ackerman has completed transactions with a total market value of over $80 million in commercial and development properties across the United States. He has personally invested in TIC properties, net leased properties, commercial real estate, income and development partnerships and secured note programs.

He is a former practicing veterinarian who got his start assisting business sale transactions in the health care fields and is a member of numerous professional groups. He has published articles for trade journals and books, and teaches Continuing Education classes for financial, tax and real estate industry professionals.
